Spoke to Mr Pierpoint again today after the announcement to see if he would be sticking around. He informed me he had not been invited to press conference so he thought he would not be wanted in future. I for one think this is a big mistake. As good as it is that CH have taken over, as we have found owners are only as good as they manage. Jesus, Nobwell couldnt do it when it was his only job! Is it reasonable to expect the new owners to manage the club effectively when they have a major property company to run? I think it would be hard work with all best of intentions. I think BP would be perfect to hold a position at the club to help run it and bring its marketing into the 21st century, especially when the new owners have to be away tending their first priority. Bp obviously gets on well with JB so Im sure he wouldnt mind working with Barrie. I was struck by Barries open-ness to speak and his availability to the fans. I think it was also nice to see someone take an inerest in a small club in the middle of nowhere and actually care more than the so called owners that did nothing but bleed us dry. They said we are to be a community club and they will still prob want our donations. Thats fine, but lets have a say. Barry is a necessity not a luxury. He would get BUFC awareness sky high and bring in so many ways to make money. Lets face it, he got 1000 people to turn up on Fathers Day just by asking. People can say they didnt fall for it......but he got you there and that was the point. So....he is good at what he does. The good news is, he said if asked he would love to be involved. We shouldnt miss out on him.
