What do you all hope to achieve? Talk is cheap. Ask to see signed contracts, and an elected board and persuade Barrie that it is important to know who is owning the club despite his rather 1950s outlook on governance. And be wary, you'll hear what you want to hear. Barrie is a smooth operator.

BL, I've got a few elves who are going. It's an 8 eight hours return train journey as my lift let me down and I've got a few chores to attend.
I'm sure Mr Pierpoint won't be having a bucket collection to buy the ground immediately but do take your cheque book and ask your questions.
I had a notion recently that a possible strategy for Standing Alone would be if it pretended to ask Mr Pierpoint to disassociate himself with them, and then Mr P. could go on to slate Lavaflow and Standing Alone.
Effectively, this could result in Lavaflow giving up on receiving anything for the club and slinging its hook. Re-enter Standing Alone under another guise and with no CVA to pay if the club is liquidated (Mr Pierpoint has already said that we do not need to know who is behind them and that we probably never wouldso we'd be none the wiser). This would a saving in the first instance to Standing Alone of a possible ?00,000.
If SA was really "clever" it could get James Rodwell to say today that the deal is off, Lavaflow is liquidating the club and wiping out the debt (saving to SA of ?00,000 as mentioned), and they could then hand some of the saving over to Lavaflow. This would be quite naughty and I'm sure they are all so full of integrity that they would never even contemplate it. Result: Blame attached to Lavaflow, Standing Alone seen as the White Knight.
So please do call me a cynic if you wish, but worse has happened and some fans do seem rather gullible (according to Impstalk at least).

Cynicism in the past, whilst not being an indicator for the future, has proved in the case of BUFC never to be very far from the truth.
There is no reason for SA to pay all the debts of the club, unless Lavaflow had real assets - which they don't.

well i must say after attending this morning how disappointed i was
it was just like listening to jon sotnick all over again
he wouldn't say who the current shareholders of lavaflow are and didn't even mention about the anonymity of standing alone
and plan B was just a case of getting us all to dig into our pockets despite no assurances on how any raised funds would help save the club
the only bit of optimism left in me now is the knowledge that john blackwell seems to welcome barries input and therefore i'm willing to trust his judgement at this time but barrie's meeting this morning has hardly inspired me to help with fundraising

Isn't it probably the case that Barrie needs to be a diplomat and he needs to be able to get on with Lavaflow and Standing Alone if he wants to strike a deal? Right now, SA's takeover is still officiallly on and as Barrie has been acting for SA, it would be very bad politically for him to be rubbishing them and naming the names of people they didn't want revealing.
It wouldn't be right for him to announce to everyone at York Street : "Look, the SA take over ain't going to happen. Get behind me, I'm the only hope the club has right now". This may be what he thinks. But until SA completely withdraw, he can't really say that. All he can do is be in a position to step in (with the possible help of BUFC fans/business owners) when the inevitable happens.
I just hope it doesn't drag on much longer.

The clever thing about Mark Isaac's post is that he will either prove to be correct or, if he is way off the mark, it will be years before we know for sure. And by then everyone will have forgotten he said it in the first place.

mark - don't jump to conclusions here that you've an ally in the fight against barrie
whilst i remain disappointed at barrie's meeting this morning my mind remains open as to whether he will be good for this club and that view is based on the fact john blackwell appears to be supportive of him

Well if he would like someone to enter and give a free (but slightly basic) analysis of the results, then they can pm me here. However in return I would insist on the right the publish the full results here
